Hi, I’m Laura
I’m glad you are here.
If you found your way here and are reading my bio, you’re probably feeling stuck in a certain area of your life, and you’re thinking of taking the first steps in doing something about it now. Good for you! Making the decision to invest in yourself and searching for the right therapist who is going to “get” you, connect with you, and help you create valuable changes in your life is the first step toward healing.
“Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be; embrace who you are.”
-Brene Brown
First, let’s start off by clearing some misconceptions of therapy and do a little “mythbusting” of our own:
Here’s what I believe about therapy:
Therapy is for Everyone!
“Therapy is only for those people.” False. Therapy is for everyone. We actually think it’s pretty cool. Where else can you go and talk about yourself for an hour and walk out feeling relieved, energetic and equipped with new tools that will help you ”do life” better?
You are not alone!
“Nobody will ever understand me.” False. You are not alone. We may not have walked the same exact journey together, but I can empathize with your struggles, as I too have had many struggles of my own. You won’t have to do this alone.
Therapy can absolutely work!
“Therapy doesn’t work.” False. Therapy absolutely can work. All too often, I hear others refer to client’s as being “unmotivated,” or “resistant,” because change simply doesn’t happen. I believe, that it is my job to help you shift and create changes in your life so that therapy does work. I see my role as being a guide for your individual journey and leading the way. Sometimes, I will casually provide gentle nudges, and other times, (not going to lie), I will respectfully call it like I see it and let you know when you’re limiting yourself and straying away from the goals you set with me previously. It can work, things can change, and life can be different.

What it’s like to work with me
I’m not in the business of keeping clients stuck and processing painful memories just for the sake of filling out endless amounts of paperwork and years of therapy without any progress. I have clear intentions for your success in sessions and in your life. I am purposeful in my questioning, utilize effective interventions, and genuinely care for your well-being. I am highly empathetic to how others feel and am always trying to make others feel comfortable in a room, in and out of sessions. My goal in therapy is to not only provide a warm, nonjudgmental, and safe space to express your thoughts and concerns but, really, to also help you create a shift for our sessions to be valuable. My intention is for you to walk out of my office having gained clarity, strength, freedom, and renewed energy to accomplish your goals. Many of my clients express that they feel "lighter" at the end of our sessions. Let’s get started on helping you heal so you can live a life that brings you JOY.
What Am I like Outside of Sessions?
During my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family. You can find my little crew riding bikes outside, playing board games, watching movies, and getting messy on the beach. I love a good book and the feeling of getting lost in a new story any chance I get. I would love to travel more, explore different cultures, and eat my way through every part of the world. I love food. If I were ever stranded on a deserted island, I would definitely be okay with living off sushi and tacos. In my home, we have a sign that reads, “We dance in this kitchen,” because you can never underestimate the power of a good song. My friends would describe me as “free-spirited, friendly, and thoughtful.” I believe that the most important thing in life is our relationships. So I’m all about creating better relationships with ourselves and each other.
