Preteens, Teens & Young Adults Therapy

Preteens & Teens Therapy (10-19 Years Old)

As a therapist and a mother, I know that the preteen and teenage years have always been challenging, both for the child and for the adults caring for them. The World Health Organization released a recent study that showed one in seven 10-19-year-olds experience a mental disorder. Depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. The emphasis on "getting good grades," structured after-school activities, social challenges, identity explorations, puberty, the college process and figuring out what to do in the future has intensified over the years. Throw in social media to the mix — and times have truly changed.

For whatever reason you are seeking services today, I want you to know that you are not alone, and you don’t need to fit into the societal “box.” Your uniqueness makes you special. I want teens to know that it's okay to experience lots of different feelings-but what matters is how those feelings are expressed. My goal in therapy is to help them discover some healthy and safe ways to manage their emotions, create a safe space for their expression of feelings, increase their resiliency and quiet down that inner critic. Feel free to contact me for a free consultation. I look forward to partnering with you and your child.
